Personal Care Items Drive
The UES Tribe Pride is collecting personal care items to donate to Love, Inc. of Clay County, a homeless shelter from March 10-14. Students who bring in at least one personal care item can wear CRAZY hair on Friday, March 14. Some possible personal care items to donate include: toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, baby wipes, wash cloths, soaps, shampoo, etc.
Camp Invention 2014: Morphed!
In partnership with the National Inventors Hall of Fame, Smithville School District is pleased to offer the nationally-acclaimed Camp Invention program to children entering grades one through six at the Upper Elementary from 7/28-8/1 from 9:00 - 3:30pm. It’s an exciting, weeklong summer adventure in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) that’s all about big ideas. Children will work together to seek innovative solutions to real-world problems and sharpen critical 21st century learning skills as they rotate through four modules that reinvent summer fun. Want to perform at the MAP assembly on 4/17? Join the Cheer/Dance Club 2014. Practices will take place from 8-8:30 am at the UES on 3/21, 3/27, 3/28, 4/2, 4/8, 4/10, 4/11, 4/15, 4/16 and 4/17. Cost is $7 and includes a t-shirt. Class size is limited to 25 students. Registration forms are available in the office. Please give completed registration forms to Mrs. Simon by Friday, 3/14.
Still Life With Iris
The HS theater has a new performance titled Still Life with Iris, geared toward younger audiences. In fact, elementary students get in for free! They will be performing March 6th, 7th, & 8th at 7:00 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center (PAC). Watch the teaser video at the following link:
Miles of Smiles
Miles of Smiles will be at our schools March 19th-28th! Miles of Smiles provides FREE dental care to children in the Northland who do not have access to dental care. The dental care is provided by a licensed dentist and assistants, at school. Miles of Smiles treats children from the ages of 3 to 18, and 75% of the treatment provided is fillings and extractions. Kindergarten screening will be held at Smithville Primary Elementary School March 19-21 & 24-25. Any child turning 5 years old on or before July 31, 2014, will need to be screened for next years' Kindergarten class.
All necessary paperwork will be filled out at the time of your screening. Please bring copies only of the following documents:
