Calling all future 6th grade students and parents! The Middle School will host an incoming 6th grade parent night on Tuesday, May 21st at 6:30 p.m. This will be an opportunity for parents to meet the staff, tour the school and become familiar with 6th grade expectations. Your 5th grade child will also have the opportunity during the school day on the 21st to visit. I know the MS staff are excited to meet you and your child. Pop Tab Collection Six Grade Girl Scout Troup #163 is collecting pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House. The charity recycles the aluminum tabs and uses the money to help the families of sick children at Children's Mercy Hospital. Please bring in your pull tabs from soda, soups, pet food, etc., and drop them in the collection bin near the school's front door. For more information, contact Bonnie Holland at 532-3470. Parents As Teachers Smithville School District's Parents As Teachers program offers FREE annual developmental screenings for children 3 months - 3 years old. Screenings involve a developmental screening in the areas of communication, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, problem solving and personal-social skills. A health questionnaire, functional hearing and vision test will also be completed. Screening takes about 30 minutes. A certified parent educator from the Parents As Teachers program will come to your home to complete your child's screening.
