The Middle School will host an incoming 6th grade parent night on Tuesday, May 21st at 6:30 p.m. This will be an opportunity for parents to meet the staff, tour the school and become familiar with 6th grade expectations. Your 5th grade child will also have the opportunity during the school day on the 21st to visit. I know the MS staff are excited to meet you and your child. Please mark you calendar and plan to attend.

Event Details: 

• Learn a routine with the Dazzlers on Wednesday, June 12^th right after summer school – from 3:30pm to 5:00pm.  The location is the Primary Elementary gym.
• Participants will receive a snack and a T-shirt.
• Please bring your own Beach Towel (small size) and water bottle.  We will learn a routine utilizing the Beach Towel as a prop
• COST:  $20.00 per student:  Includes clinic, T-shirt, and snack.

Six Grade Girl Scout Troup #163 is collecting pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House.  The charity recycles the aluminum tabs and uses the money to help the families of sick children at Children's Mercy Hospital.  Please bring in your pull tabs from soda, soups, pet food, etc., and drop them in the collection bin near the school's front door.  For more information, contact Bonnie Holland at 532-3470.  Thank you so much!

Smithville School District's Parents As Teachers program offers FREE annual developmental screenings for children 3 months - 3 years old.  Screenings involve a developmental screening in the areas of communication, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, problem solving and personal-social skills.  A health questionnaire, functional hearing and vision test will also be completed.  Screening takes about 30 minutes.  A certified parent educator from the Parents As Teachers program will come to your home to complete your child's screening.  If you are interested please email Mary Kay Grusenmeyer at grusenmm@smithville.k12.mo.us or call the Central Office 532-0406 to leave a phone message.  Please include your name, phone number, address, child's name and child's birth date.
